In Term 4 2020, Year 6 students took part in a Visual Art x STEAM Workshop with Brisbane-based multi-disciplinary artist, Nadine Schmoll. This was a pilot STEAM initiative of the Visual Arts faculty, co-ordinated by Ms Anne Kennedy-Levesque and Mr Paul Neilson
Under the guidance of Nadine, students designed and made a wearable electronic artwork, either a glowing badge or armband. Students learned the basics of an electronic circuit (complete kits with all components were provided) and the basics of hand sewing. This experience will form the basis of further individual work for the 3D practical folio including an extension activity, using multiple LEDs which will be assessed in Term 4.
Students loved the exciting practice of combining recycled materials and electronics and we are very privileged to have Nadine work with us.
